Road Tripping with the 2018 Mazda CX-9

2018 Mazda CX-9

Jekyll Island, GA is about 5 hours from Atlanta and Mazda was kind enough to loan me the brand new 2018 Mazda CX-9 for my trip. I’ve driven several of Mazda’s SUV’s including the CX3 and the CX5 , but the 2018 Mazda CX-9 blew me away.

To escape city life, I headed down to Jekyll Island, GA to experience the newly opened Jekyll Ocean Club. The resort is an all-suite hotel with gorgeous views of the Atlantic Ocean from the balcony of every suite. It was the ideal setting for a little R&R.

The resort is beautiful and the food is outstanding. Take a peek at the menu for Corsair Kitchen and Bar inside of the Jekyll Ocean Club here.

The 2018 Mazda CX-9 is a dream come true if you require comfort and space in a crossover SUV. It is great for families because of the third row seating, but is still comfortable for anyone that is in the car a lot. I live about 20 miles from my job, so it is important for me to have comfort in my vehicle.

The leather interior is sleek and comfortable with Premium Nappa Leather.

Mazda gave special attention the driver by positioning the shifter and console slightly higher than in previous models. The 2018 Mazda CX-9’s Commander control (one of my other favorite features) sits in easy reach so you don’t have to lean or stretch keeping your eyes on the road.

The second row has the ability to control their hot and cold air and the second even features heated/cooling seats.

The 2018 Mazda CX-9 has all of the features I’d come to look forward to in the brand. The windshield-projected Active Driving Display, Mazda Connect infotainment system with Sirius/XM radio, rearview camera, navigation, bluetooth, BOSE speakers, leather interior and heated/cooling seats for both the front and rear passengers.

When driving for an extended period of time on the road, your feet can definitely start to get tired. I took advantage of the cruise control feature that is vastly different from my 2010 Chevy lol. The Mazda Radar Cruise Control has a stop and go function that maintains your set speed. So if the vehicle in front of you slows down or stops, the car would slow down or stop as well. I absolutely loved that feature! The additional features of the Blind Spot Monitoring and Lane Departure Assistance is always helpful, especially when braving Atlanta traffic.

Some other interior features that I liked was the sunroof, the USB charging ports in the second row and the third row seating. The fuel efficiency is good with 24mpg city and highway combined. I was able to do the 5-hour drive to Jekyll Island without having to fuel up which was fantastic.

I’ve always owned mid-sized cars, but I’ve grown to really love crossover SUV’s. The 2018 Mazda CX-9 has all of the features that I am looking for with a smooth ride and fuel efficiency.
