DoubleTree by Hilton Atlanta Perimeter Dunwoody Hotel | Staycation

DoubleTree by Hilton Atlanta Perimeter Dunwoody Hotel

Lobby

It’s that time again for another staycation in the city! After a hectic couple of months and my recent turnaround trip to Charleston, SC, I was excited to get some much-needed R&R! I was recently invited to dine at Southern Grove Restaurant located inside of the DoubleTree by Hilton Atlanta Perimeter Dunwoody Hotel. Since I was going to have dinner, I also decided to go ahead and stay the night at this beautiful new hotel.

Located on Chamblee Dunwoody road right off the 285 exit, this new hotel is conveniently just one exit away from Perimeter Mall where you will find tons of shopping, restaurants and Marta. Businesses in the area includes the U.S. Headquarters for InterContinental Hotels Group and State Farm. There is also easy access to GA 400, I-85 and I-75. Although the hotel is not right in the center of where Perimeter Mall is, you are so close that it doesn’t even matter.

To be 100% transparent, when I pulled up to the hotel, I did give it a little side-eye. From the outside, it’s not what you’d expect from the Doubletree by Hilton brand. HOWEVER, when you walk inside, it is absolutely GORGEOUS! The lobby and reception area is open, bright and features tons of Atlanta memorabilia. You are immediately greeted by staff and welcomed into this beautiful hotel.

Ok so I have asked for more than one cookie lol 🙂 But you can’t visit the hotel without getting one or three.

Lobby Bar

The bar and lobby at the DoubleTree by Hilton Atlanta Perimeter Dunwoody Hotel is my favorite and it’s the ideal place to hang out. It’s sleek, inviting and when the sun is setting it gets this gorgeous light that shines over it. Southern Grove Restaurant is adjacent to the bar, but I suggest sitting in the bar area if there’s space available.  More details about the food and cocktails in the next blog post.

During my staycation at the Doubletree Perimeter @dtbhatlperim last week, I had a chance to explore the menu at their restaurant Southern Grove. Chicken and waffles is on what seems like every menu in Atlanta but few are able to nail it. Southern Grove has definitely solidified a spot on my list of favorites. I thought grandma 👵🏾 was in the back because it was seasoned just right and fried perfectly. It was really Chef Marlon lol but he did a damn good job 👌🏾 I paired it with a sparkling wine because they go together 🤣 Add Southern Grove inside the Doubletree to your list folks!! 😄 . . . . #southernfood #chickenandwaffles #friedchicken #doubletree #perimetermall #happilyeating #YouEatWithYourEyesFirst #Foodwriter #FoodieChats #Foodiesofinstagram #FoodPorn #Foodblogger #AtlFoodie #weloveatl #AtlantaBlogger #Atlanta #instalike #delicious #eeeeats #beautifulcuisine #yummy #discoveratl #discoveratlanta

There are tons of interesting art throughout the hotel and when the doors of the elevator opened letting me on to the floor I would be staying, the first thing I saw was this mural. The mural highlights popular landmarks in the city like the Skyview Ferris Wheel, Martin Luther King Jr. Center and the famous Fox Theater.

The rooms at the DoubleTree by Hilton Atlanta Perimeter Dunwoody Hotel are quite spacious and comes equipped with all of the necessary items one would need for a vacation, staycation or business trip. What I loved about the rooms is of course the space, but the TV was large and it room came with a refrigerator and coffee maker. The king sized bed was soft and comfortable which made it even more difficult to get up the next day. There was a large window to let it light but the curtains also blacked out the room so that the light did not disturb me in the morning. That might not matter to some but that’s key for me. I am NOT a morning person and I planned to sleep in….all the way in lol.

The decor was also modern with minimal contemporary furnishings with neutral colors and clean lines. The bathrooms are a little on the smaller side, but nothing you couldn’t manage. The counter space was large and the bathroom amenities included Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries. The frameless shower was also my favorite as I really don’t care for shower curtains in hotels. I might be a slight germophobe lol.

The simplicity of the hotel is what I loved most about my stay. It was modern but not overdone and the room was comfortable and clean. Thank you so much to the staff Tiffany, Dale, Marlon and Charmaine at the DoubleTree by Hilton Atlanta Perimeter Dunwoody Hotel. You all were friendly and accommodating. Thank you for making this much needed stay even more enjoyable 🙂
