With the vast number of restaurants in the City, we sometimes forget that there are fabulous restaurants located in our beautiful hotels. SAVOR Bar & Kitchen Atlanta, located inside of the Westin Atlanta Perimeter North is on the lower level of the hotel overlooking a beautiful lake.
When you walk through the beautiful glass doors into SAVOR Bar & Kitchen Atlanta, it is bright, open and offers gorgeous views of the lake that sits behind the restaurant, through the floor to ceiling windows. You almost forget that you are in the center of an office park. Tawana and I decided to grab a table right in front of the window where there were people sitting outside on the patio.
Knowing that we both wanted dessert, we started dinner light, with a couple of salads. The Thai Steak Salad was Chef Paul Harris’s recommendation. This beautiful salad has romaine lettuce topped with tomato, cucumber, red onion, mint, cilantro, roasted peanuts, diced mango, braised short rib and a sweet-chili vinaigrette. We were both able to quickly figure out why Chef Harris recommended this salad. It was subtle mix of sweet from the mango, savory from the short rib, yet it still had a refreshing and light feel from the mint and cilantro. And despite being topped with the short rib it wasn’t heavy.
I know the wedge is pretty straight forward and simple, but it is one of my favorite classic salads, next to caesar. It was a fresh romaine wedge that was beautifully crisp and topped with bleu cheese crumbles, fresh tomato, crispy bacon and bleu cheese dressing. I have to tell you, it’s the simple things like this that makes my taste buds happy.
For entrees we went with a seafood theme. The seared Scottish Salmon is typically served with quinoa, couscous, spinach, apple and a fennel glaze. Tawana decided to switch out the quinoa and couscous for risotto. The salmon was prepared well and had a hint of sweetness from the apple and fennel glaze, but it wasn’t overpowering. The sautéed spinach was prepared well with tons of flavor from the garlic.
I really enjoyed the jumbo scallops which were perfectly seared on the outside and served on a bed of prosciutto and asparagus risotto. I loved that the scallops were seared so beautifully on the outside, but was still tender and juicy inside. The risotto was not my favorite although it was perfectly prepared. I didn’t enjoy the mascapone cheese that was used in its preparation. Mascapone can have a bit of tartness to it and for me I don’t think it complimented the salty prosciutto.
We both saw lobster truffle mac and cheese on the menu so we HAD to try it. Served in a small cast iron skillet, the dish was FULL of large pieces of lobster meat. They did not cheat us lol. The truffle flavor was mild, which I thought was great, but the dish could have been a bit more cheesy. But this was tasty nonetheless.
For dessert, Chef Harris said that we had to try the bourbon pecan tart and we also went with the creme brulee cheesecake. The bourbon pecan tart was fabulous! Tawana, savored every bite that she took lol. Chef Harris paired it with a bourbon ice cream as well which was the perfect combination. The creme brulee cheesecake was also delicious and was creamy and sweet from the bruleed sugar on top.
Overall, I had a great time at SAVOR Bar & Kitchen Atlanta. The staff was AMAZING and so was the service! Tawana and I had such a great time talking to Chef Harris, George, Chris and our server Lili. We were there for hours just hanging out. I recommend stopping in after work for dinner or to enjoy the SAVOR at the lake happy hour that takes place every Thursday at 5:30p.
