I’ve featured Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse here on Happily Eating numerous times and over the years it has become one of my favorite restaurants in the city. It’s become one of my favorites because the food is consistently of high quality, the service is always great and the ambiance is perfect for pretty much any occasion. If you guys haven’t noticed by now, brunch has been at the top of my list these days. Finding new and interesting places to dine at that time of day when it’s not quite breakfast or dinner, gives restaurants a chance to be innovative and creative.
As many times as I’ve dined at Davio’s, I’d yet to experience their brunch menu until recently.
Davio’s brunch has your typical brunch cocktails like mimosa, Bellini and bloody mary’s. My server was kind enough to recommend the strawberry bellini which was delicious and full of fresh muddled strawberries. I had my good friend Nagey with me who is pregnant and I didn’t want her to feel left out, so our server also made a “mocktail” for her that consisted of cherries, fresh squeezed lemon juice and soda.
There hasn’t been a time that I visited Davio’s and did not have the spring rolls, so I was happy to see them on the menu. There are four types of spring rolls, the Philly cheese steak, chicken parm, buffalo chicken and the Reuben. The cheese steak and the buffalo chicken are my favorites. I suggest ordering the sampler which was garnished with home-made fried onion rings, if you can’t decide on which one to choose. When you can’t choose one, you get them all!
As an additional appetizer, we ordered the deviled eggs topped with bacon, bleu cheese crumbles (we got it on the side) and the home-made fried onion rings. These deviled eggs are deliciously creamy but the bacon and fried onion rings adds a nice crunch.
When it comes to Davio’s brunch menu, you will see a lot of your typical brunch dishes. Waffles, omelets and benedicts, but you also have some pasta options as well. Nagey wanted to play it safe with the Springer Mountain chicken and waffles. The Springer Mountain chicken is fried and is sandwiched between two waffles and topped with a strawberry butter. The dish was ok, but I think if you want to stray away from the traditional brunch route, there are plenty of other dishes on Davio’s menu that would be awesome. I had my eye on the white cheese pizza with bacon, eggs and scallion that’s drizzled with white truffle oil. The beautiful couple who was celebrating their 29th wedding anniversary at the table next to us, said it was phenomenal.
I wanted something different and Davio’s is Northern Italian, so I went with the tagliatelle bolognese. The bolognese was prepared with veal, beef and pork in a flavorful tomato sauce that was garnished with fresh parmesan cheese grated over your plate table side. Between the bolognese and the gnocchi, I had a hard time deciding. But the bolognese was perfection so I made the right decision.
You can go traditional if you’d like with brunch, but I believe Davio’s has much more to offer. Summer is right around the corner, so grab a seat on the gorgeous patio with views of Buckhead and enjoy brunch with family and friends.
