Genki Sushi Bar Atlanta | Poke Bowls, Sushi & My Favorite Fried Rice

I love Genki Sushi Bar for the fried rice and of course the sushi. But with the launch of their new poke bowls, I can now add a new dish to my list of Genki favorites. The new menu of poke items features appetizers and bowls but I decided to go with the poke bowl since I’d never had one before. Erica tagged a long with me on this trip as I needed to hear all the details about her engagement. Congratulations girl!! ๐Ÿ’

Genki Sushi Bar Atlanta - Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl

Gorgeous Spicy Salmon Poke bowl! #YouEatWithYourEyesFirst

Genki has three different poke bowls that includes the Mexican Poke, Tofu Poke, the Spicy Salmon Poke and the Ahi Poke Sashimi appetizer. Erica and I both decided to go with the spicy salmon because it sounded so good. Fresh salmon is tossed in a spicy garlic mayo with red onion, cucumber, mango, masago and garlic served over white rice.

What I enjoyed most about the bowl is how refreshing and light it was. Seafood is light on its own and although it was served with rice, it still did not feel heavy. The spicy garlic sauce had just enough spice to make it approachable for anyone and the sweet mango helped to balance it out. The tuna still had a bit of firmness to it, but the addition of the crunchy cucumber added extra texture.

Genki Sushi Bar Atlanta - Veggie Fried Rice

Veggie Fried Rice

There was no way that I was going to visit Genki and not indulge in some sushi and fried rice. Keeping with the poke theme, Erica and I ordered the poker face roll which had ahi tuna poke, cucumber and avocado, topped with escolar, black and red tobiko and a wasabi cream. On the opposite end of the spectrum, we also ordered the reid which had spicy salmon that was wrapped in lettuce and then rice, topped with seared Angus filet, avocado and a spicy garlic sauce. ย Both rolls are delicious and full of interesting flavor combinations.

The veggie fried rice was just as I remembered it. Full of fresh veggies (zucchini, carrots and squash) with egg and onions. What I enjoy most about Genki’s fried rice is that it’s not greasy or salty.

The poke bowls should be around for a while, so stop in and check them out for a refreshing and light dish when you want to skip the heavy meat. I’d love to know what you think once you’ve tried them!

I also love Genki’s create your own stir fry bowls. Read more about them here.
