I featured GRAIN Bar on Happily Eating over a year ago, so I was pleased to be invited back for a chance to experience the new menu of small bites, cocktails and to enjoy the outdoor patio. GRAIN is located in Midtown on West Peachtree St. in between 6th and 7th street and is ideal for almost any occasion.
The best part about this intimate bar is it’s equally intimate outdoor space that overlooks West Peachtree St. I visited GRAIN on a Saturday with one of my friends Nagey, where it had to be the best weather Atlanta had seen in a while. It was breezy and there was zero humidity. We enjoyed several cocktails and dishes from the menu while chatting with others who were sitting outside enjoying the weather with us. The intimate outdoor space encourages conversation with people you don’t know and I really like that. By the end of the night we’d all gathered into one large group laughing and interestingly enough talking about food lol.
Inside, you will find a large bar that spans almost the entire space. There are floor to ceiling windows with views of the patio and wood tables and iron chairs.
Impromptu cocktail made on the fly with Jameson, orange bitters and chocolate bitters
Midtown Mule: Vodka, pineapple, lime, ginger and soda
Tater Tot Parm
Lump Crab Mac and Cheese
Lady Ellhorn: vodka, elderflower liquor, orange flower water, lemon and bubbles
GRAIN’s tagline is “Making a lot from a little” and they do just that with it’s small bites menu. We ordered several items that included the deviled eggs that were deliciously creamy and topped with Benton bacon, hot vinegar and radish dusted with paprika. We loved them so much that we ordered more.
The tater tot parm was definitely interesting but also tasty. I’ve had tater tots loaded with all sorts of things before but never with a bolognese sauce and smoked parmesan cheese. The lump crab mac and cheese had tons of fresh crab meat and was cheesy and creamy since the base was a béchamel sauce. The portions were enough to split and are the perfect compliments to the cocktails.
I can almost guarantee that you’ve passed GRAIN and didn’t even know it. That’s probably one of the things I love most about it. It has a mysterious feel and you have to know about it to KNOW about it. It’s relaxed but don’t be afraid to wear your best threads. It’s not over crowded and you can always expect your cocktails to be made with fresh ingredients.
Until next time…Happy Eating!! xoxo -Milla
*Cocktails and small bites were complimentary however all opinions are my own.
